Our School

Our Ethos

We aim for the school’s core Christian values to inform and influence our pupils’ moral compass and allow them to enjoy ‘life in all its fullness’. These values are known as the ‘Sunshine 6’.

They are: Forgiveness, Perseverance, Honesty, Compassion, Courage and Respect.

St Mary's Christian Values

All members of the school community are expected to behave in a considerate way towards each other and to demonstrate positive attributes which support our school ethos.

Through doing so we aim to create a school community built on respect, compassion and love where each individual has a sense of respect and belonging.

These principles are designed with the aim that children can carry these into their lives beyond school, both now and in their own futures.

The Sunshine Six!

Compassion

“We show compassion as Jesus fed the 5000.”

Honesty

“We are honest as Jesus taught Zacchaeus.”

Perserverance

“We persevere as Jesus in the desert.”

Forgiveness

“We forgive as the prodigal son's father did.”

Courage

“We are courageous like Mary, mother of Jesus.”

Respect

“We show respect as the Samaritan did.”

These values also underpin our approach to behaviour management and are taught throughout our curriculum and during our daily worship sessions. In this way we hope to enable children to play a full and positive role in their communities both now and in the coming years.
