Celebrating sporting events

It’s been a busy and successful start to the sporting year at St Mary’s, with pupils showing incredible teamwork, effort, and school spirit across a wide range of competitions.

There has already been an active start to the year with a number of after school sports activities taking place.

Both the boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 have competed in football league tournaments and represented the school and themselves extremely well.

Year 6 have also taken part in a Mixed Basketball competition; our team finished in the top half of the schools competing and we were really proud of the way that they supported one another.

We also had the opportunity to compete in a 3 x 3 Basketball competition. We entered both a girls and boys team; our girls came second and boys won but most importantly, both our teams were recognised for the positive approach that they took to the games and how they encouraged and supported other teams, demonstrating the best of our school values.

Year 4 have been given a number of opportunities to represent the school in a Tag Rugby taster session, a Multi-skills session and Super 6 Athletics; again, they showed excellent perseverance and positive attitudes to these games.

For the rest of the term, there will be opportunities in cross country, dodgeball, indoor cricket and netball.
