What is a School’s Governing Body

Responsibilities. The headteacher of the school is responsible for day-to-day management of the school. The role of the Governing Body is to provide strategic management, and to act as a “critical friend”, supporting the work of the headteacher and other staff.

The governing body was reconstituted in September 2019 following the school’s change of status from Voluntary Controlled to Voluntary Aided (effective from 1st September 2019).
